Wooden Wick Candle Care

Makesy is the exclusive licensed manufacturer and distributor of wooden wicks developed by the creator of the original wooden wick, Lumetique, Inc. These unique wick technologies are covered by over 100 issued patents.

Wooden cracking wicks add another sense to your candle experience:  Sound.  They do require some care however:

  • Trim wick to 1/8 inch. The longer the wick the harder it is for the wax to flow up to the top and keep the flame going.
  • Always trim your wick before each burn, removing all charred wood from previous burns preferably using a wick trimmer.  You can also use your fingers to break off the charred pieces of wood prior to relighting.
  • Always light the wooden wick from the base, closest to the wax and ensure the full width of the wick is alight.
  • Your first burn should be at least 60 min so the wax can melt evenly.
  • Do not burn more than 4 hours to preserve the scent in the candle.
  • Make sure to keep out or reach of children/pets as the glass will get hot and the wax will be liquid as it has been heated to a high temperature.
  • Stop burning the candle when there is 1/4 inch of wax at the bottom of the glass to prevent any chance of shattered glass.
  • Protect candle flame from drafts.
  • Keep away from flammable materials, children & pets.
  • After you extinguish make sure the wick is not smoking and that the flame is completely out.
  • Cover extinguished candle with the lid to keep dust/dirt from the candle.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
